BioSupPack Training #1 – Plasma technology for recycling BioSupPack

Discover how non-thermal plasma technology can boost the recycling and upcycling of post-consumer bioplastic packaging in the BioSupPack project by European Bioplastics. In this talk, Prisant Argeeta (National & Kapodistrian University of Athens) explains how plasma pretreatment can partially depolymerize PHB-based materials, improve enzymatic hydrolysis, and help close the loop by turning packaging waste back into valuable monomers for new biopolymers. The video also highlights why circular end-of-life solutions and sustainability assessment are key to tackling plastic waste and reducing climate impacts.

BioSupPack Training #2 – Development and End of Life of rigid biobased plastic packaging

Rigid formats, such as trays, tubs, and containers, are widely used across both food and non-food applications, presenting specific opportunities and challenges when transitioning from conventional to bio-based materials.

The training is delivered by two technical experts Pedro Santana (Logoplaste Innovation Lab) and Michele Rossi (SABIOMATERIALS)

BioSupPack Training #3 – Hyperspectral imaging-based method for the classification of bio-based packaging

Discover how hyperspectral imaging can transform the identification and sorting of bio-based packaging, overcoming the limits of traditional visual separation. In this second specialised training of BioSupPack, Marina Pellegrino (IRIS Technology Solutions) presents an innovative, chemometrics-based approach that enables real-time chemical identification of materials, achieving over 95% classification accuracy under simulated industrial recycling conditions.
