What are PHAs?

PHAs are polyesters produced in nature through bacterial fermentation of sugars or lipids, using bio-derived and carbon-based feedstocks – including waste – and thus are an alternative to fossil fuel-derived plastics.

What are the advantages of PHA-derived packaging solutions?

PHA-based packaging solutions are suitable for being recycled and recovered.

They can be used for packaging:

Agri-food

Cosmetics

Homecare

Beverage sectors utilizations

What is BioSupPack planning to do with PHAs?

BioSupPack will improve the barrier, hydrophobic and squeezable properties of PHA-based packaging. BioSupPack will also investigate the the feasibility of the novel PHA-based products’ recycling and re-use properties.
